In my adventures in crocheting I have crochet a mustache stick and brooch. I have tried to crochet a beard and fu-man-chu on a stick and it failed miserably. During my recovery from my open heart surgery I have not been able to really crochet, crochet. So I decided to give the beard a go one more time.
I have to say I can not read a pattern to save my life, however I do write them in my own gibberish. This is not a original concept by any means but I look pretty handsome. <3 xoxo

Over the past few years I have had plenty of peeps ask me do you have any hats. I have time and time again have said no. I have tried, so hard, to make hats that are fun to make and worth selling. I looked long and hard and found a style I loved in knits only. A few years ago I was at a craft show and met some ladies who were selling knit hats and hand died yarns. The hats they were selling were baby pixie hats and I fell in love with them. Being a kid at heart I found that I can never find fun winter hats for myself. I would love an adult version of a baby pixie. And after lots of trial and error I was able to redesign a Hat for young adults or young at heart.

These hats have straps on either end and have a slight point to them giving a slight point in the back. They are 100% acrylic, and fantastic for peeps with sensitive skin or vegan friendly peeps. These are posted at MittenMade.etsy.com and come in a variety of colors.
I have some fantastic peeps in my life that are great story tellers of product..

These headbands are super cute! I love them

The Mitten Made Tees as well

We arrived at the Corner brewery around noon. My good friend Miss Lindsay was nice enough to join me and be my buddy. She loaded in and loaded out so I did not have to lift anything.
We quickly loaded and were able to take our time putting together the display. I quickly realized after setting up that I still need to re-think my display. Overall the show was good.

I premiered a few new items. Fingerless Mittens, Hobbit Hats, Cottage Caplets, Victorian Caplets, Headbands and Motif wall hangings.

This year one of my goals is to educate peeps on the advantages of wool. This fiber is totally misunderstood.

Guess what I am making? If you guessed the item from the photo you my friends are fantastic peeps!
I love this shrug and have been working two days on it. It is beautiful and elegant. I am using a robins a robins egg blue for my first attempt though this white is amazing, it even looks likes it’s glowing. I am hoping to have some of these available for purchase this year. each piece of lace is 140 loops. then each two sided strip is crochet together. Simple and gorgeous. Loves <3

I have been a very busy girl over the past few weeks. I have been on a creative ride that has left my head spinning. I have been creating all sorts of newness for Mitten Made this year. I have an ear warmer for the fall, I have designed a Gnome like Hat, and have created a caplet that is to die for. I am feeling good about this years shows, and hope to continue to build and create new items, that are well made and cozy. I have also decided to let go of some things that have not been that fantastic. Goodbye coffee cup cozy, apply cozy and button brooches. Out with the old and in with the new! I have also found a partner to work with this year at street fairs. This will make the days go by so much faster.

I had a thought last night while perusing through blogs on all the new colors of yarn and whats new in fiber. I came across the most stunning afghan blanket all crochet. each piece looked hand crafted and so old school. Each square looking better than the other the detail and texture made me smile, it reminded me of my Grandmother’s blankets, and ones that my aunt had crochet years ago but I remember them just the same.
I also came across cross stitch, now in the past I have tried cross stitch and some embroidery and frankly I wanted to cross stitch my eyes out. It is something delicate and masterful and I am as graceful as an ox. The gods have blessed anyone who can do that work, and I have not problem looking at those pieces and being left in awe. My hats off to you embroiders, and cross stitchers.
I love the idea of featuring motifs in a hoop. I love how each motif is it’s own art, and like quilting squares there is dimension.
I love this idea and I hope you do too.

My Adventures in crocheting is about to step up a whole new level, one that I didn’t choose. At least not at the moment. I recently found out about some health issues that now are keeping me from my full time job as a retail store manager and the realization that I probably will not return to work is creeping ever so close and I may be turning to my love of crochet to a full time gig. hmm now what to do. In the past Mitten Made has had a great time doing street fairs and markets but now trying to make a living $3 at a time seems not to be working as well as I hoped. So I will be turning to you tumblr peeps for feedback. I will be dropping products and adding new ones over the next few months I hope you will participate in this weird world of mine. <3
